The Government is providing additional funding of £150 million for each academic year until 2020 to provide new primary school funding in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. The funding is being jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. All state maintained primary schools will receive the funding.
All schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil.
At Beormund we encourage the development of sport and activity for all and encourage collaboration and partnership, working to make the best use of resources and enhance PE and sport in order to raise participation and achievement for all pupils.
“A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.” - National Curriculum – PE 2015
As a school we are using the PE premium funding to internally support the delivery of PE. This is done through working with external coaches and venues, offering a range of enriching opportunities and experiences as well as developing staff and curriculum in line with expectations set out in the national Curriculum for PE
