British Values

The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

The Core Values determined by the DfE are:

At Beormund we have an active school council voted for by the students. The school council representatives speak to their classes during Morning Munch to see which issues the students wish to be raised during the fortnightly school council meetings.

The Rule of Law

We know the difference between right and wrong. We have agreed Rights and Responsibilities at Beormund. We have strong links with the local police who often come in and talk with the students.

Mutual Respect

We have Morning Munch each day and we sit together and discuss ideas.

Individual Liberty

We know that we are responsible for our own choices. During Get Busy time students are encouraged to work on their own projects based on their own interests and skills.

Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs

We enjoy learning about different faiths and cultures from around the world, through assemblies on the different religious festivals, visits from local religious leaders from different faiths and during RE and PSHE lessons in class.
